The Cardiorespiratory team provides a customised cardiac rehabilitation program. The scope of work of the team is to give pre operative and post-op chest physiotherapy, early mobility in the ICU and long term rehabilitation. The main goals are prevention of post operative complications and early returning to optimum function in daily life. The team thoroughly assesses each patient to design a structured and personalised treatment and exercise programme. Every patient is treated with empathy and care. The program is supervised by senior therapists to ensure safety of each patient. Incentive spirometry, huffing, coughing, splinting is taught to cardiac patients before and after surgery. In the cadiac ICU bedside sitting, wheelchair mobility, walking and in ward, walking for longer time and staircase climbing is practiced as early as possible to facilitate early recovery function.Overview
